Ipsy Glam Bag-September 2018

For spanish version, click here.

Hello and welcome to another late Ipsy review.  Ipsy is a $10 monthly subscription that comes with 5 sample size products (makeup, skin & hair care) in a makeup bag.  Each month has a different theme, for September’s bag the them was “The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me”.  And the makeup bag is made of a black fabric with metallic detailing.

The first product was a tube of hair mask by the brand Jo Hansford.  It says is made for color treated hair with an anti-fade formula that will nourish, enhance and condition dry, damaged or over processed hair.  Let’s talk about the packaging size and amount of product ratio because it really bothers me.  You have this bulky tube that says is 1.01fl oz of product.  But when you look at the tube against the light you can see that is not even halfway full.  So why do we need this size of a tube for such a small quantity of product.  Now, the product’s performance is not bad.  I’ve used it a few times, after each use my hair feels softer and with less knots.  But it’s too early to notice any change on the hair appearance.

The next product was the Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer.  I’ve been really liking this primer, it keeps my makeup in place for quite some time.  In terms of performance, I think it compares with my Colourpop All Star Primer.  But the consistency of the Smashbox primer is more liquid-like than the Colourpop primer.

Also got the Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator.  It says its suitable for all skin types, I don’t consider it to be harsh on the skin.  Have used it a few times, it leaves my skin feeling soft but I haven’t seen any changes on my skin.

Next, I got a mini Lip Glaze from tréStique in English Rose.  I really like this lip product, it’s a pretty red shade with a nice sheen.  I would say that its duration is average, like a lipstick.

Last but not least, the September’s bag included the Around-The-World light infusion powder from Nomad Cosmetics.  The shade is a peachy-pink named Positano Sunrise.  I’ve used it 3 ways:  as a highlighter, a blush/blush topper, and as eyeshadow.  I like how it looks when applied as eyeshadow and love it as highlighter.  But as a blush or blush toppers, is not my favorite because I don’t like pink blushes nor my cheeks to shine that much.

What’s been your favorite product so far?

PS. October’s bag came in the mail yesterday, review will be up in the next few weeks.

Tried 2, Liked 1-Wet ‘n Wild

For spanish version, click here.

Hello!  Welcome back to another episode of this series.  Today I’m going to tell you my experience with two Wet ‘n Wild products.

Wet n Wild foundation

The first one is the Photo Focus foundation.  I use mine in the shade 365C Soft Beige.  It retails for $5.99, quite affordable for a drugstore product.  Before even applying it to my face, I already disliked it a bit.  All because of the chemical-like smell it has, is quite strong and lingers a little after application.  But what can be worse than the strong scent?  The wear and look of the foundation on my skin.  After only 4 or 5 hours, my oils start to break through the foundation and it starts to break down basically all over my face.  For obvious reasons, I don’t like this foundation.  I only use it if I need to look presentable a few hours, for long days I use my favorite foundation.

The next product is the megaglo highlighting powder in the shade 319B Blossom Glow.  Retails for only $4.99, it has some fallout, but I don’t care about it because the application is beautiful.  The glow it leaves is out of this world and it looks like a high-end highlighter (without the high price).

What affordable products are your favorites?

Probé 2, me gustó 1-Wet ‘n Wild

¡Hola!

What will I buy?-Colourpop x Disney

For spanish version, click here.

Hello guys!  Welcome back to my blog.  Today we’re going to be telling you what I’m planning to buy from Colourpop’s new (limited edition) collection in collaboration with Disney.  Launches today, September 28, at 10am PST.  It includes: an eyeshadow palette called It’s a Princess Thing ($20), 6 Super Shock Shadows ($7 each), 3 Ultra Glossy Lips ($6 each), 6 Lux Lipsticks ($7 each), and 2 Super Shock Highlighters ($8 each).  PR Box ($120) doesn’t include the highlighters and 2 of the shadows (Under the sea, Heigh-Ho).

  • Photos from trendmood’s Instagram page.
  • Highlighter’s photos from Colourpop’s website

I’m beyond excited for this collection, it looks beautiful and it’s Colourpop so I know they will perform amazingly.  Also, it’s affordable.  If I could I would buy the entire collection, but I can’t.  So, I told myself I would just buy a few things (because it’s limited edition).  When I first saw the items in the collection I decided I wouldn’t get the eyeshadow palette because I have too many palettes.  Instead I was going to buy two Super Shock Shadows and two Lux Lipsticks (I love this formula so much).

But after watching a few reviews of the collection, I decided I was going to add one more Lux Lipstick to my list.  So, the two Super Shock Shadows I’m intending to buy is Under the Sea and A Whole New World.  As for the Lux Lipsticks, I want Ariel, Belle and Tiana.  If I succeed in my buying intentions, I will let you know what I think of the products.

In the meantime, are you getting anything from this collection or any of the new products in the market?

¿Qué compraré?-Colourpop x Disney

¡Bienvenidos a mi blog!

Las sombras que planeo comprar son Under the Sea y A Whole New World.

Tried 2, Like 1-Physicians Formula

For spanish version, click here.

Hello! Welcome to the new series “Tried 2, Liked 1”. For the first post, I thought fitting to talk about Physicians Formula (since it’s the first time I try anything from the brand).

Let’s start with the product that I didn’t liked. I tried the Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Lash Boosting Mascara in Ultra Black Organics. It retails for around $10 (it’s on sale on Physicians Formula website and Ulta for $5). The wand is fat with short plastic bristles. The formula is extremely wet and it stays like that all day long. That’s why I didn’t liked it, my lashes felt wet and every time I touched the my fingers had mascara on them (I sneezed and my mascara went to my lids). At the end of the day, I had awesome panda eyes (never looked better). My eyes were black all around, it ruined my makeup and I was eager to take the damn mascara off.

The second product was the Butter Bronzer in Deep Bronzer. Believe me when I tell you that I know how late I am to trying this out. But I absolutely understand why basically everybody likes it. It’s a nice shade and it smells like pina colada which is somewhat strong for my preference (the scent lingers a bit after application).

Also, it has some subtle micro-shimmers so it leaves a nice sheen on the face (not glittery). It’s quite pigmented so take it easy with the application (or not, is up to you).

In conclusion, completely disliked the mascara but absolutely loved the bronzer.

Let’s talk in the comment section!

Probé 2, me gustó 1-Physicians Formula

¡Hola!

Covergirl Flourish by Lash Blast-Review

For spanish version, click here.

Hello there!  Recently I’ve been on a mascara kick (if you haven’t noticed LOL).  So, I’ve tried a few mascaras, some are new releases, and some are just new to me.  If you love trying new makeup products or you’re on the hunt for a good drugstore mascara, then this post is perfect for you.  Today, I’m going to tell you my impression of the (fairly) new Covergirl Flourish by Lash Blast mascara.

Sweep on COVERGIRL’s Flourish by Lash Blast mascara to treat lashes to lush ingredients including coconut, avocado and papaya oils. COVERGIRL’s Flourish by Lash Blast mascara helps lashes feel conditioned, builds volume and adds definition with every application!

Bought it for $9.49, in Very Black and non-waterproof formula (not dry, is quite wet).  The wand is plastic, quite flexible with short (spiky) bristles at the top that gradually grow as you go down the wand.  It separates and volumizes my lashes with only 2 coats, without looking clumpy.  Even though is non-waterproof, I don’t end up looking like a panda with black all around my eyes.

  • First photo: no mascara
  • Second photo: with mascara

All I have left to tell you is that I actually like this mascara and have been using it for the past month.  That’s it!  (what a short post LOL).  Let’s get the conversation started in the comment section: Which is your favorite mascara?

Flourish by Lash Blast de Covergirl-Reseña

¡Hola!

  • Primera foto: no rímel

New Colourpop Loves

For spanish version, click here.

Hello there!  Colourpop recently released eyeshadows with a new formula, called the Jelly Much shadows.  There are 8 shades that retail for $8 each.

Its unique water-based formula saturates the pigment for immediate intense color application.  Super longwearing, it won’t crease, fade, or transfer; dries down to a powder finish with zero fall out.

I only bought one shade when they were released because I just wanted to try them.  Thought I wouldn’t like this formula (I’m more of a powder shadow kind of girl) but to my surprise I love it.  The shade I have is Bungalow, described as a “metallic vibrant peacock teal”.  When I first used it, my sister said I had little mermaid eyelids (LOL).

For application, I first tried it with my fingers but switched to a brush for a more precise application (website says to use a brush).  The formula has a weird feel to it but as stated on Colourpop’s website, it gives intense pigmentation and doesn’t crease or fade.  I’ve had it on my lids and my lower lash line as a pop of color.  It stayed put all day until I removed my makeup at night.  I have hooded eyes and the shadow didn’t transfer anywhere.  *Remember to leave the plastic lid on and screw shut tightly so it doesn’t get all dry.*  There’s no need to say that I will be buying other shades because they’re beautiful and the formula is amazing.

  • First photo: Swatches;
  • Top photo: What’s your sign? on lips
  • Bottom photo: Scorpio Moon on lips

Another Colourpop product I’ve been loving is the Lux Lipstick, specifically the ones from Kathleen Lights Zodiac Collection.  The retail for $7 each.  I have both shades in the collection and I must say that I’m impressed with the formula.  This are the first Lux Lipstick I try and I’m glad I did.  The formula is creamy, but it won’t bleed out of the outer edge.  The shade What’s your sign? fades beautifully but Scorpio Moon leaves a line on the outer edges of my lips.  Also, if I put Scorpio Moon on and remove it, it leaves my lips stained (I confess it looks pretty).  Overall, the shades are beautiful, the formula is amazing, and I NEED to buy more lipsticks in this formula.

What are your thoughts on these products?
