the Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara

Hi guys! Hope you’re having a great week so far, today I have a mascara review for you. It’s a fairly new product from Maybelline and I’ve liked it so far, but it’s not my favorite.

Colossal Curl Bounce turns up the volume. Now big volume meets bouncy curl. Its Curl ’N’ Bounce brush separates and curls lashes while its Memory-Curl formula gives curl that lasts. This long wearing mascara delivers lasting bouncy lashes. Defies clumps. Defies smudging. Defies flaking. Up to 24HR wear.

According to Maybelline’s site
  • Pros
    • Packaging is good-looking and slick.
    • Formula doesn’t stay wet for long, it dries fast.
    • Color is intense.
    • Doesn’t transfer.
    • Makes my lashes look curly.
  • Cons
    • Smudges on my lower lash line.
    • Somewhat hard to remove.
Here you can see the difference this mascara makes on my sad, droopy, non-existant lashes.
Both eyes with 2 coats of mascara.

Overall, it’s a great mascara but it doesn’t quite agree with the high heat/humidity of Puerto Rico. I tend to apply two to three coats without waiting in between (one eye at a time). With that many coats, it takes some effort to remove the product entirely. I’ll continue to use this mascara, just not for work where I’m in fluctuating temperatures.

Let me know in the comments, what’s your favorite waterproof mascara that won’t smudge or transfer.

First Impression-Colourpop x Frozen II

Hi guys! Hope you’re good and healthy. Today I’m doing a first impression on the Colourpop x Frozen II eyeshadow palettes. As a bonus, I tried the No7 Lash Extender Infinite Lash Length and Volume mascara. // ¡Hola!

If you want to see the application process, go watch this video on my YouTube channel.

These limited edition eyeshadow palettes retail for $15, they include 9 shades and a mirror. Elsa’s palette is cool-toned while Anna’s palette warm-toned. As every Colourpop eyeshadow palette I’ve tried, these have amazing pigmentation and blend really well.

Now, the No7 mascara impressed me. I’ve seen the retail price fluctuate from $8.99 to $14.99. One coat gives length, volume and pigment to my lashes. When I added the second coat, it looked really good. A third coat clumped my lashes a bit, but I’m not mad at it. It stayed all day and was easy to remove. // Ahora, el rímel de No7 me impresionó. He visto el precio fluctuar de $8.99 a $14.99.

L’oreal Bambi Eye Mascara vs Maybelline the Falsies Lash Lift Mascara

Hi guys! Hope you’re safe and doing good. Don’t forget to follow me on social media:

Today we’re going to talk about two mascaras I’ve been using for a few months. Both claim to give length and volume to the lashes.

L’oreal Bambi Eye mascara has a retail price of $10.99 and a “velvety washable formula glides on smoothly for lifted, elongated lashes, without clumps”.
Maybelline the Falsies Lash Lift mascara also retails for $10.99 and “delivers a dramatic volume and long, lifted lashes.

In my experience, both mascaras give good volume and length. I find that the L’oreal Bambi Eye mascara is a bit faster to get clumpy, if too many layers applied. Maybelline the Falsies Lash Lift mascara has a more thin formula, which helps the clump-free claim. But if you let it dry between coats, you’ll get clumps and it will be difficult to apply it.

Photo’s left side: L’oreal Bambi Eye.
Photo’s right side: Maybelline the falsies Lash Lift.

As you can see in the photo above, the left side looks more pigmented and together. As for the right side, the Maybelline mascara separated my lashes more. The length and volume seems to be the same.

I like both mascaras, they’re good and don’t transfer (after letting them dry) or flake. Preference over one or another will depend on the eye makeup I’m wearing.

Mascara Recap-Will I Repurchase?

Hi guys! Welcome back, hope you’re having a great day. Don’t forget to follow me on social media:

The topic for today: mascara. I’ve tried them, they’re gone, now we need to talk about them. Were they good? Will I repurchase? Which one did I like more? If you want to Know the answers to these questions, just keep reading.

The first is the Colourpop BFF Mascara. I got it when it first came out and got 3 colors (black, blue and purple). They were my go-to mascaras because the pigmentation was amazing. It didn’t smudge or transfer. But when the formula became dryer, it started to flake and smudge during the day. Haven’t repurchase because I always have many mascaras on rotation and many more waiting to try.

Next, L’oreal Lash Paradise. It’s pigmented, gives good length & volume, and doesn’t smudge or transfer. But gets clumpy with too many coats. Both formulas, waterproof and non-waterproof, perform the same. The only difference is the taking process. The waterproof formula is harder to take off, which is why I prefer the non-waterproof one. Have repurchased many times (have like 2 backups).

Covergirl Lash Blast Active is pigmented and gives lashes a more natural and separated look. Can be built-up without getting clumpy and it doesn’t tend to smudge or transfer. Good for everyday, minimal makeup look. Haven’t repurchased it and I’m not sure if I will.

I have tried 2 Rimmel mascaras: Scandaleyes Retro Glam and Scandaleyes Wow Wings. Both are extremely black and give lot of volume. The formula is super wet, which means it takes quite some time to dry. Haven’t repurchase because I’m not fan of wet formulas.

Lastly, Maybelline Snapscara (non-waterproof) is a pigmented, clump-free, volume giver mascara. It has a not-to-dry, not-to-wet formula. Haven’t repurchase yet but will when I finish a few mascaras.

Overall, my favorite mascaras are:

  • L’oreal Lash Paradise (non-waterproof)
  • Maybelline Snapscara (non-waterproof)
  • Colourpop BFF Mascara

Current Makeup Favorites-January 2020

Hi guys! Hope the holidays treated you well. I’m not going to tell excuses of why I was gone. I just needed some time to think and to find the motivation to continue writing. Now that I’m back, let’s talk about some makeup and don’t forget to follow me on all social media.

Let’s start this 2020 with my current makeup favorites (as the title says). These are products that I discovered or rediscovered in 2019. For most of the makeup categories, I have two or more products. The foundations I’ve been using lately are L’oreal Infallible Fresh Wear and Covergirl TruBlend Matte Made. The L’oreal foundation has a more “natural” finish, but the Covergirl is more matte. Both work quite nice with my oily skin and Puerto Rico’s tropical weather.

Rediscovered my love for Maybelline Fit Me concealer, for days where I don’t want too much makeup as it’s a lightweight formula. But when I need to cover my dark circles, I use the TruBlend Undercover concealer from Covergirl. It’s a somewhat thicker formula and you only need a tiny amount. To set my face, I’ve gone back to my trusty Stay Matte powder from Rimmel. I put all my bronzers in a drawer for the late half of 2019, because I discovered the Milani Silky Matte bronzer. The last face category is highlight and for this I have a few, three to be exact. An IBY BEAUTY Radiant Glow highlighter sample in 24k magic (received in a Ipsy bag), the megaglo highlighting bar from Wet ‘n Wild in 684 Earth, and Covergirl TruBlend Super Stunner Hyper-Glow in Pearl Crush.

For my brows, I’ve been using the Ultrafine Brow Pencil from Covergirl. Basically, every eyeshadow palette I’ve used in the past months are from Colourpop. My mascara combo is formed by Maybelline Snapscara and Covergirl Exhibitionist, they make my lashes look amazing. Don’t get me wrong, each mascara works wonders individually but since the Snapscara has dried a but, I find its better when used with another mascara. Still loving the lip liners from Jordana, they’re so soft and pigmented. Fallen in love with two lip products from NYX, the Butter Gloss which I’m starting to think that has been discontinued because I can’t seem to find it anywhere. The other one is the Lingerie Push-Up long-lasting lipstick, which is a pigmented matte formula. Lastly for lips, the L’oreal Rouge Signature liquid lipstick has a lightweight-matte formula with incredible pigmentation.

Those are the current products I’m using, let’s hope for a year full of more amazing products. Any recommendations? Let me know in the comment section 😉

Ipsy Glam Bag-Febrero 2019

¡Hola!

Ipsy Glam Bag-February 2019

Hi guys! Welcome to another Ipsy Glam Bag review, this time for the month of February. Ipsy is a $10 monthly subscription of 5 beauty samples (makeup, hair & skin care) inside a cute makeup bag. February’s bag it’s a light pink plastic bag with red kiss marks all over and a brighter pink zipper.

For this month, I included three add-ons: a lip liner, a brush, and an exfoliator. Huda Beauty Lip Contour (lip liner), in Famous, has amazing pigmentation, it’s long-wearing and the color is beautiful. The brush is a big powder brush from F.A.R.A.H. in 50F, and it turned into my everyday brush for applying bronzer. As for the exfoliator, it’s the Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay (Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment). It’s a harsh exfoliator that leaves the skin feeling soft.

Now for the actual samples included in my bag, the first one is the Lash Alert Mascara from Eyeko. I like the mascara but I’m not in love with it, it’s volumizing and it doesn’t smudge. Even though I’ve noticed that it flakes a bit. The next product is the Space Case Eyeshadow in No Reception, it’s a beautiful color, pigmented and long-wearing. The Doucce Fierce and Fine Graphic Pen in Black doesn’t smudge, lasts all day but it doesn’t have a matte finish.

The last two products are actually my favorites for this month’s bag. One is the LAQA & CO Prickly Pear pH Gloss, the scent is nice and is not overly sticky. When I work at 3 am, aka the past three weeks, I apply little makeup and use this gloss. Also, the Purlisse Coconut Oil+Coffee Body Butter it’s creamy but not oily or sticky. I’m not in love with the scent (’cause I don’t like coffee) but it’s quite hydrating.

That’s everything in my Ipsy bag for February. Sorry for the late post but my bag came in at the end of February and I wanted to give it a good try at all the products before telling you my thoughts.

Let’s stay connected!

Recent Purchases

Hi guys! I’m back with a post about the purchases I’ve made in the past weeks.  First, I want to share with you my new adventure (if it can be called that way).  I’m now having a YouTube channel (which is in Spanish but I put English subtitles) where I will be sharing makeup, beading and life-related stuff.  So if you can’t wait for me to try the products in this post, go to YouTube on Friday and watch me try a few of these products on my face.  Now back to the post!

I bought makeup and a few makeup tools. Here I’ll just tell you what I bought, my thoughts on the products will come later (when I give them a fair shot).  So let’s get started.

For the Charlotte Russe makeup, I bought a Lid Love Eyeshadow Stick in Violet Smoke and a Velvet Lip Dip Matte Liquid Lipstick in Fearless (both are a purple shade).

Then I made a Colourpop order to try a few things.  Got a Creme Gel Liner in the shade Show Me, a Brow Boss pencil in Dark Brown, and a Super Shock Highlighter in Flexitarian.  The whole idea of the order was to get the new BFF Mascaras, so I got two: Black on Black and Blue Ya Mind.  Because I purchased two mascaras, I got a deluxe sample of Fourth Ray’s Come Clean Cleansing Duo.

I went to a beauty supply and bought three products for which I couldn’t find links for these products (sorry).  The sponge is from the brand Lukasi, and it already ripped in the middle when I was washing it.  An eye brush (kind of pencil brush) from the brand FakeFace Cosmetics, and a s.f.r. color eyeshadow palette with 6 shimmer shades.

Sorry for the dirty brush and stained sponge

Then I went to Walgreens to get a moisturizer because I’m running low on my current one.  But as everytime I go there, I got out with a lot more stuff.  From Garnier SkinActive, I got the Moisture Bomb Antioxidant Moisturizer.  Bought some face masks from Neutrogena, Hydro Boost Hydrating Hydrogel mask (sheet mask) and the Deep Clean Purifying wash-off clay mask.  Got the NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop foundation in the shade Medium Buff and a Walgreens Beauty Charcoal Infused sponge.  Finally got my hands on the new Maybelline Snapscara in Pitch Black, but also got two Wet ‘n Wild mascaras: Mega Volume waterproof in Very Black and MegaSlim Skinny waterproof in Black.

So that was everything I have bought in the past weeks, will definitely keep you updated on my thoughts in next posts.  Don’t forget to comment and share with your frineds, support is appreciated.

Tried 2, Like 1-Physicians Formula

For spanish version, click here.

Hello! Welcome to the new series “Tried 2, Liked 1”. For the first post, I thought fitting to talk about Physicians Formula (since it’s the first time I try anything from the brand).

Let’s start with the product that I didn’t liked. I tried the Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Lash Boosting Mascara in Ultra Black Organics. It retails for around $10 (it’s on sale on Physicians Formula website and Ulta for $5). The wand is fat with short plastic bristles. The formula is extremely wet and it stays like that all day long. That’s why I didn’t liked it, my lashes felt wet and every time I touched the my fingers had mascara on them (I sneezed and my mascara went to my lids). At the end of the day, I had awesome panda eyes (never looked better). My eyes were black all around, it ruined my makeup and I was eager to take the damn mascara off.

The second product was the Butter Bronzer in Deep Bronzer. Believe me when I tell you that I know how late I am to trying this out. But I absolutely understand why basically everybody likes it. It’s a nice shade and it smells like pina colada which is somewhat strong for my preference (the scent lingers a bit after application).

Also, it has some subtle micro-shimmers so it leaves a nice sheen on the face (not glittery). It’s quite pigmented so take it easy with the application (or not, is up to you).

In conclusion, completely disliked the mascara but absolutely loved the bronzer.

Let’s talk in the comment section!
