Current Makeup Favorites-January 2020

Hi guys! Hope the holidays treated you well. I’m not going to tell excuses of why I was gone. I just needed some time to think and to find the motivation to continue writing. Now that I’m back, let’s talk about some makeup and don’t forget to follow me on all social media.

Let’s start this 2020 with my current makeup favorites (as the title says). These are products that I discovered or rediscovered in 2019. For most of the makeup categories, I have two or more products. The foundations I’ve been using lately are L’oreal Infallible Fresh Wear and Covergirl TruBlend Matte Made. The L’oreal foundation has a more “natural” finish, but the Covergirl is more matte. Both work quite nice with my oily skin and Puerto Rico’s tropical weather.

Rediscovered my love for Maybelline Fit Me concealer, for days where I don’t want too much makeup as it’s a lightweight formula. But when I need to cover my dark circles, I use the TruBlend Undercover concealer from Covergirl. It’s a somewhat thicker formula and you only need a tiny amount. To set my face, I’ve gone back to my trusty Stay Matte powder from Rimmel. I put all my bronzers in a drawer for the late half of 2019, because I discovered the Milani Silky Matte bronzer. The last face category is highlight and for this I have a few, three to be exact. An IBY BEAUTY Radiant Glow highlighter sample in 24k magic (received in a Ipsy bag), the megaglo highlighting bar from Wet ‘n Wild in 684 Earth, and Covergirl TruBlend Super Stunner Hyper-Glow in Pearl Crush.

For my brows, I’ve been using the Ultrafine Brow Pencil from Covergirl. Basically, every eyeshadow palette I’ve used in the past months are from Colourpop. My mascara combo is formed by Maybelline Snapscara and Covergirl Exhibitionist, they make my lashes look amazing. Don’t get me wrong, each mascara works wonders individually but since the Snapscara has dried a but, I find its better when used with another mascara. Still loving the lip liners from Jordana, they’re so soft and pigmented. Fallen in love with two lip products from NYX, the Butter Gloss which I’m starting to think that has been discontinued because I can’t seem to find it anywhere. The other one is the Lingerie Push-Up long-lasting lipstick, which is a pigmented matte formula. Lastly for lips, the L’oreal Rouge Signature liquid lipstick has a lightweight-matte formula with incredible pigmentation.

Those are the current products I’m using, let’s hope for a year full of more amazing products. Any recommendations? Let me know in the comment section 😉

Repurchase or Not??

Hi guys! Let’s talk about those products we use up, whether we like them or not. Mine include makeup, skin related and beading materials. I’ll tell you what I like of them, what I don’t and if I had purchased them again or not. Let’s begin.

Starting with skin related products, the first one is my moisturizer. I used up the L’oreal Hydra Genius Moisturizer for oily skin, I enjoyed this product because it help with hydration but wasn’t oily/greasy feeling. It’s a gel formula, which I prefer for my oily skin, that absorbs quickly and leaves my face feeling fresh. I didn’t repurchase this product because I noticed some dry skin on my face, so I decided to try another moisturizer.

Another product was the cleanser I use to take off my makeup before washing my face. The Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser (with the green cap), I massage it all over my face and take it off with a cotton round. After that I go in with a cleanser to finish taking off the makeup and the greasy feeling the Pond’s cleanser leaves. Always repurchase this one, I love how easy it takes the makeup off even when I have to wash my face afterwards.

Next, we have the category with more products: MAKEUP. A product I buy over and over again is the Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation from L’oreal. That must say how much I love it, but if you want to know more about it just click here to read the post I wrote. I have two concealers to talk about, both affordable and with great coverage. The first one is the Colourpop No Filter Concealer for which you can read what I think of it by clicking here. The other one is the Clean Matte Concealer from Covergirl, it has a little less coverage than the Colourpop one but is good. I’ve repurchased the Colourpop concealer a few times already, but not the Covegirl one.

I have two products from Maybelline, Fit Me! Blush in Buff and Master Fix Loose Setting Powder in Translucent. These products have been favorites for quite some time now, and they never dissapoint. The blush is a pinky-nude that needs to be build up and goes with every look you want to rock. The loose powder sets my makeup nicely without making me look cakey.

Another loose setting powder I enjoyed using was the L’oreal Infallibe Pro-Sweep & Lock in translucent. Same as the Maybelline one, it sets the makeup nicely. The last makeup product is also from L’oreal, but this time is the Brow Stylist Plumper Mascara. I don’t even remember when I started using this product, all I know is that I love setting my brows in place with this after filling them up.

Now, my favorite beading thread and seed beads (size 11/0 & 15/0) are from Artbeads. As always, I try to buy when there’s a sale to stock up on materials I’m need or new colors.

Those are all the products that I’ve loved enough to keep buying them. Let me know about yours.

Let’s keep in touch!

Ipsy Glam Bag-July

For spanish version, click here.

Hi guys!  I know I’m super late with this post (I’m pissed at myself about it) but I think is better to be late than to never arrive (even though I hate being late).  So, before my August bag arrives, I wanted to get this up and kind of compare it with the June bag.

Let’s start!  So Ipsy is a monthly subscription where you get 5 samples based on a profile (quiz) you fill out stating your skin & eye color, what you like (lots of makeup, lots of skincare, colors you prefer, etc.)  I’ve been trying out what came in my bag for quite some time now and I’m going to let you know what worked and what didn’t.

In June’s bag I got 2 sheet masks, guess what?!  I got 2 sheet masks in the July bag too!  They’re from the brand Frecipe (different from last month).  One is a Pomegranate firming mask and the other is an Acai Berry calming mask.  Retails for $18 (Ipsy’s website) but it comes with 10 sheet masks.  I’ve only used the Acai Berry sheet mask and I don’t know if I liked it.  When I first took it out of the package, the sheet mask felt slimy and was soaked with product.  It has a scent (can’t pinpoint what exactly) that isn’t overpowering but could still smell it through the 20 minutes.  It has a cooling feel on the face.  When I took it off it left my face soaking wet and my face felt extremely sticky once it absorbed everything.

When I opened the actual bag, loved the color this month, I saw the brow pencil Peak Performance from POP and it retails for $8.  Mine is in the shade Natural Brunette which I think is my perfect shade.  It has a waxy feeling that makes it somehow difficult to apply (in my case of almost non-existent eyebrows).  Also, it plucks one or two hairs during application.

Brow pencil

The next item in my bag was a Banana Setting Powder from Bellápierre Cosmetics in Medium.  It retails for $35 and it was a little dark for me, every time I applied it my undereye ended up looking too yellow.

Banana setting powder

Then I saw the eyeshadow from Ittsé Cosmetics in the shade Changing to Flats which retails for $7.20.  love the color, is matte and longwearing but the application is hit or miss.  Sometimes it covers perfectly, other times it doesn’t apply well in the crease area.  It could be because of how I’m priming/setting the lid.

Eyeshadow swatch

Last but not least, it’s the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in the shade Stepping Out.  This shade is perfect for me because is basically my go-to everyday color.  It dries down matter, is not hydrating but doesn’t feel uncomfortable and is longwearing (not difficult to take off).

Smashbox liq lipstick

Overall, I like almost everything in July’s bag except for the sheet mask and the banana setting powder.  The rest of the products were really nice but the only one I would probably use every day would be the liquid lipstick.

Again, sorry for the delay but I wanted to put it up anyway.  Talk later!

PS. August’s Ipsy Glam Bag arrived today 😀

Ipsy Glam Bag-Julio

¡Hola!

Eyeshadow swatch

Review-Colourpop No Filter Foundation

Choosing the right foundation shade can be tricky, but when you’re buying foundations online can be worse. Colourpop seems to have developed a system to aid us in this tedious task. You just select your skin tone and undertone, the website will give you a few shade options that may match you. When you select your shade and scroll down the page, it also tells you which shade of concealer, pressed and loose powder works with the foundation shade you chose. I may have chosen the wrong undertone because the foundation is lighter with my skin tone, even more with the slightest tan I have going on. According to the Colourpop website:

Developed for the Selfie Age, our buildable full coverage, natural matte foundation delivers flawless looking skin from day-to-night. The oil-free, lightweight formula blends smoothly and is easily customizable to create the coverage you want.

Makeup done: used foundation, concealer and powder from the no filter collection

If we don’t take into account that the shade doesn’t match me well, I must say that I’m a bit disappointed. I have been testing out the foundation for almost 2 weeks now and I can’t seem to understand how to make it work for my skin type. The website claims that the foundation has a matte formula and that is somewhat right. Don’t take me wrong, it has a beautiful matte finish when you put in on but that goes away with my oily skin. It looks beautiful when I first applied it but after only 2 hours, the foundation has faded from my chin and mustache area. It also builds up around my nose and sinks into my smile lines. On the rest of my face it lasts around 6 hours, depending on how hot the weather is it can start to break up earlier. I have paired this foundation with the Colourpop No Filter pressed powder, with the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder, and with Maybelline fit me loose powder. It wears basically the same with each one, as I said, the duration of this foundation on my face depends on the Puerto Rican weather. The coverage is good, I even wore it without concealer the other day and it covered my dark circles and redness nicely.

As for the rest of the collection, I can only speak for the concealer (which I have been loving since it first launched) and the pressed powder which is a good powder. The concealer covers the darkness under my eyes well enough and it doesn’t crease, but obviously I set it with powder to ensure it lasts me all day. Is the only concealer I have been using and I have already repurchased. Although the powder is good, I don’t think it reaches holy grail status for me.

Those are my two cent on the Colourpop No Filter foundation, concealer and pressed powder. Have you tried it? Comment your thoughts in the comment section and let me know what else you would like to see here. Thanks for the support and talk later.
