Reseña-Base Infallible Fresh Wear de L’oreal

Hoy estaré reseñando la base Infallible Fresh Wear de L’oreal. Tiene un costo de $14.99 y un rango de 30 tonos. En su página de internet describen este producto como una “base de larga duración con la textura más ligera y respirable. A prueba de agua, transferencia, y sudor.” Brinda una cobertura de media a completa y funciona para todo tipo de piel.

Pero, ¿realmente funciona para piel extremadamente grasosa y el clima tropical de Puerto Rico? Continúa leyendo y lo averiguarás.

Esta base luce bastante natural con una cobertura de media a completa (utilicé una esponja de maquillaje para aplicarla). No se siente pesada en la piel, pero no es mi primera opción para utilizarla todo el día. Terminé de aplicar mi maquillaje a las 8:40am y comencé mi día con muchas cosas que hacer.

A las 2:20pm, tenía menos base en el área de la nariz y las mejillas; lo que es bastante normal porque es donde rozan mis espejuelos. Mi frente estaba comenzando a verse grasosa.

Para las 5pm, la base estaba desapareciendo de mi frente y quijada. Ya a las 8pm, se había ido completamente de mis mejillas y mostraba acumulación en mi nariz donde restan mis espejuelos.

Puedo utilizar esta base para trabajar un turno de 8 horas, eso sería utilizando hojas absorbentes de aceite y aplicando polvo. Pero si necesitara que mi maquillaje durara todo el día, definitivamente esta base no sería mi elección.

En mi opinión, funcionaría mejor para personas con piel normal a seca, climas menos cálidos y tal vez personas que no utilicen espejuelos.

Review-L’oreal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation

Today I’m going to be reviewing and sharing a wear test on the Infallible Fresh Wear foundation from L’oreal. It retails for $14.99 and has a range of 30 shades. The brand’s website describes this product as a “long lasting foundation with our most lightweight, breathable texture. Waterproof, transfer-resistant and sweat-resistant.” Provides medium to full buildable coverage and it’s suitable for all skin types.

But is it really suitable for extremely oily skin and Puerto Rico’s tropical weather? Keep reading and you’ll find out.

This foundation looks quite natural with medium to full coverage (using a makeup sponge to apply). It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin but it’s not me I’ll use for all-day wear. Finished applying my makeup by 8:40am and started my day of running around doing stuff.

At 2:20pm, the foundation was rubbing off my nose/cheek area; which is quite normal because of my eyeglasses. Also, my forehead was looking oily.

By 5pm, the foundation was breaking down on my forehead/chin area. And by 8pm, it was completely rubbed off my cheeks and had build-up on my nose where my eyeglasses are.

I could wear it to work an 8-hour shift and that’s by blotting and applying powder on oily areas. But if I need my makeup to last all day, this definitely isn’t my go-to choice.

In my opinion, it would work better for normal to dry skin people, less warm weather and maybe non-glasses wearers.

Keeping myself busy

Puerto Rico has been under a 2-week quarantine/curfew for the past week and half. Because I work in a clothing store, I’ve been home doing nothing. But this week I’m trying to have some kind of routine to keep me sane.

I always wake-up early, so I decided that I would get out of bed and apply makeup. Having my makeup done helps me feel better and motivates me to get stuff done.

On Monday, I did my makeup using the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics and Rimmel Magnif’eyes Thunderstorm Edition eyeshadow palettes. Used Maybelline the Falsies Lash Lift mascara in Very Black. Lip combo was Jordana Easyliner for lips in Rock N’ Rose, NYX Lingerie Push-Up long-lasting lipstick in Lace Detail, and Colourpop Lux Gloss in Come Thru. Still trying out the Maybelline Cheek Heat Creme Blush in Nude Burn. Then worked on the blog post that’s going up on Saturday.

For Tuesday’s makeup I used Colourpop x Kathleen Lights So Jaded eyeshadow palette with Maybelline the Falsies Lash Lift mascara and a light coat of L’oreal Bambie Eyes mascara on top. For lips, used NYX butter gloss in Praline. Then went to work with beads and made some cute chicks.

On Wednesday, I used the So Jaded eyeshadow palette again and Covergirl Lash Blast Active mascara. Used a new brow product, so don’t judge them too harshly. I used L’oreal Micro Ink Pen in Dark Brunette. Continue working on more beaded chicks and tried to finish a puzzle.

Today (Thursday), I woke up early as always, got my activewear on and walked/jogged for 30 minutes on the treadmill. Did laundry, washed almost all my makeup brushes and took a shower. Put my makeup on and continued doing laundry. Used Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Shiny and an Ipsy sample of tarte lights, camera, lashes mascara. I think that today my brows look a bit better than yesterday, as I used the Micro Ink Pen from L’oreal again. On the lips, I applied a small amount of another Ipsy sample of theBalmJour Creamy Lip Stain in Salut!

This is Brandy, my guinea pig, who tends to do whatever she wants.

Those are the highlights of this week so far. Officially the quarantine/curfew has been extended for 2 more weeks here in Puerto Rico. I kinda liked doing this, although I wanted to write less days (one or two). Let me know your thoughts on this life-related post, in addition to the weekly beauty/skincare posts.

Manteniéndome ocupada

Puerto Rico ha estado bajo una cuarentena/toque de queda por la pasada semana y media. Como trabajo en una tienda de ropa, he estado en casa haciendo nada. Pero esta semana he tratado de tener algún tipo de rutina para mantenerme tranquila.

Siempre me despierto temprano, por lo que decidí que saldría de mi cama rápido y me aplicaría maquillaje. Este proceso me ayuda a sentirme mejor y me motiva a hacer algo (en vez de quedarme en la cama todo el día).

El lunes, me maquillé utilizando las siguientes paletas de sombras: Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics y Rimmel Magnif’eyes Edición Thunderstorm. Utilicé el rímel the Falsies Lash Lift de Maybelline en Very Black. En los labios tengo esta combinación: delineador de labios Easyliner for lips de Jordana en el tono Rock N’Rose, labial de larga duración de NYX Lingerie Push-Up en Lace Detail, y el brillo labial Lux Gloss de Colourpop en Come Thru. Sigo probando el rubor en crema Cheek Heat de Maybelline en Nude Burn. Al terminar mi maquillaje, me puse a trabajar en el post que será publicado el sábado.

Para el maquillaje del martes utilicé la paleta de sombras So Jaded de Colourpop en colaboración con Kathleen Lights. Así como una combinación del rímel the Flasies Lash Lift de Maybelline y el rímel Bambie Eyes de L’oreal. Para los labios usé el brillo labial de NYX en Praline. Luego me fui a trabajar con cuentas e hice unos lindos pollitos.

El miércoles usé la paleta de sombras So Jaded nuevamente y el rímel Lash Blast Active de Covergirl. No juzguen mis cejas mucho, mi defensa es que utilicé un producto nuevo. Este fue el Micro Ink Pen de L’oreal en Dark Brunette. Continué trabajando en los pollitos de cuentas y traté de terminar un rompecabezas.

Hoy (jueves) me levanté temprano como siempre, me puse mi ropa para hacer ejercicio y caminé en la trotadora por 30 minutos. Lavé ropa y casi todas mis brochas de maquillaje, luego me di una ducha. Me maquillé y continué lavando ropa. Usé un Super Shock Shadow de Colourpop en Shiny y una muestra (Ipsy) del rímel lights, camera, lashes de tarte. Creo que hoy mis cejas lucen un poco mejor que ayer, utilicé nuevamente el Micro Ink Pen de L’oreal. Me apliqué en los labios una pequeña cantidad de otra muestra (Ipsy) del Creamy Lip Stain de the BalmJour en Salut!

Esta es Brandy, mi güimo/conejillo de india, que tiende a hacer lo que quiere.

Esto es lo ha destacado de esta semana, hasta ahora. Oficialmente nos extendieron la cuarentena por 2 semanas más aquí en Puerto Rico. Déjenme saber sus opiniones sobre continuar con este tipo de post, en adición al semanal sobre belleza/cuidado de la piel.

Review-imPRESS Press-On Manicure

Inside the beauty realm, there are many categories and subcategories. So today, we’re going to talk about nails. I’ve seen a few people rave about imPRESS nails and always thought it couldn’t be possible for press-on nails to actually last. For me, glue-on nails were more reliable (back when I used artificial nails).

After years of using just nail polish, I hate going to the salon, I wanted to try this popular press-on nails. So, I went to Walgreens a few weeks back and bought two for combining purposes.

They’re easy to apply and the length is fine (I’m used to my longer natural nails). Had them on for a week until I ripped them off. I did my regular tasks as always and I gave my dog a bath without any casualties. Although, open packaged products was a bit dangerous as I felt the nails kinda detaching. They even survived an entire work shift (most nail polish chip-off). But the cool, metallic design on my index finger starting chipping on the third day of wearing them. So I think you have to choose carefully the designs if you want them to last.

I took them off because after a week of washing hands, doing stuff, showering, washing my hair, etc. The artificial nails started to feel a bit detached from my natural nails. I was having trouble doing a ponytail, my hair would get randomly trapped between the artificial nail and my natural nail.

Overall, I liked them and found them not difficult to work with. I will try the again to see if they last more time.

Reseña-imPRESS Press-On Manicure

Dentro del reino de la belleza hay muchas categorías y sub-categorías. Hoy les hablaré sobre uñas. He escuchado a varias personas hablar súper bien de las uñas imPRESS y siempre pensé que no podía ser posible que este tipo de uñas duren tanto. Para mi, las mejores son las que se aplican con pega (cuando usaba uñas artificiales).

Luego de años utilizando solo esmalte, detesto ir al salón de belleza, quería probar estas uñas “press-on”. Así que fui a Walgreens hace algunas semanas y compré dos paquetes para combinar.

Son fáciles de aplicar y el largo de las uñas está bien (estoy acostumbrada a mis uñas naturales que son más largas). Me duraron una semana hasta que me cansé y las arranqué. Pude hacer mis tareas como siempre, incluso le di un baño a mi perro sin pérdida alguna. Aunque abrir empaques era un poco peligroso, ya que sentía que se iban a despegar. Incluso sobrevivieron un turno de trabajo completo (la mayoría de los esmaltes se dañan en las orillas). Pero el diseño “metálico”, en dedo índice, comenzó a despintarse en las orillas al tercer día de aplicación. Por lo que pienso que hay que escoger bien los diseños para que duren suficiente.

Me las quité luego de una semana de mucha agua (lavado de manos, baños, lavado de pelo, etc). Porque se comenzaban a sentir algo despegadas de mi uñas. Estaba teniendo problemas para hacerme un rabo/moño (ponytail), el pelo se quedaba encajado entre la uña artificial y mi uña natural.

En resumen, me gustaron estas uñas y no encontré que fuera difícil trabajar con ellas. Las probaré nuevamente a ver si duran un poco más.

Reseña-Garnier SkinActive Black Peel-Off Mask

Hoy me voy a alejar de las reseñas de maquillaje y les estaré contando sobre mi experiencia con la Peel-Off Mask con carbón de Garnier. Está dirigida a todo tipo de piel, no contiene parabenos, siliconas o aceite. Dice que:

Elimina visiblemente las impurezas profundas de los poros y reduce la apariencia del tamaño de los poros para revelar un cutis fresco y saludable

He utilizado esta mascarilla alrededor de cuatro veces ya y debo decir que no me ha impresionado. Las instrucciones dice que se debe “aplicar una capa gruesa y opaca”, lo que tomas más de 20 minutos para secar completamente. Cuando por fin se seca, no veo una reducción visible del tamaño de los poros.

Cada vez que la uso, irrita mis ojos durante la aplicación pero al terminar de aplicar la mascarilla, termina la irritación. Mientras se está secando la piel se siente fría, no duele al quitarla (a menos que atrape un pelo) y la piel se siente suave luego.

Voy a continuar utilizándola pero pienso que las tiras nasales funcionan mucho mejor para remover impurezas. Tal vez la mascarilla da un resultado gradual y no inmediato. Los mantendré al tanto.

Review-Garnier SkinActive Black Peel-Off Mask

Today I’m stepping back from makeup reviews and I’m going to tell you my experience with a Peel-Off Mask with charcoal from Garnier. It’s targeted for all skin types, has no parabens, oil or silicones. The claims are:

Visibly removes deep pore impurities and reduces the appearance of pore size to reveal a fresh, healthy-looking complexion.

I’ve used it four times already and I must say it hasn’t impressed me. The instructions say to “apply a thick, opaque layer” which takes more than 20 minutes to dry entirely. When it’s finally dry, I don’t get visibly pore size reduction.

Every time I’ve used this mask, my eyes get a little irritated when applying but stops quickly after finishing application. It feels kind of cooling while drying, it doesn’t hurt when taking off (unless it catches a hair) and the face feels soft but tight afterwards.

I will continue to use it but right now I feel like nose strips work so much better to remove impurities (at least for me). Maybe the mask is more of a gradual result rather than immediate. Will keep you updated.

Resumen de rímel-¿Compraría de nuevo?

El tema para hoy es rímel. Los he probado, ya no están, ahora necesitamos hablar sobre ellos. ¿Son buenos? ¿Los compraría de nuevo? ¿Cuál me gustó más? Si quieren saber las respuestas a estas preguntas, solo sigan leyendo.

El primero es Colourpop BFF Mascara. Compré este rímel la primera vez que salió en 3 colores (negro, azul, y violeta). Era el rímel que utilizaba todo el tiempo porque la pigmentación era increíble. No se transfiere ni mancha. Pero cuando la fórmula comenzó a secarse, se deshacía durante el día. No lo he vuelto a comprar porque siempre tengo varios rímeles en rotación y otros más para probar.

El próximo es L’oreal Lash Paradise. Tiene buena pigmentación, da un buen volumen y alarga las pestañas, y no se transfiere ni mancha. Pero se puede crear grumos si se aplican demasiadas capas. Ambas fórmulas, regular y a prueba de agua, actúan de la misma manera. La única diferencia es en el proceso de remoción. La fórmula a prueba de agua es más difícil de remover, por lo que prefiere la otra fórmula. Lo he comprado varias veces (tengo como 2 de repuesta).

Covergirl Lash Blast Active tiene buena pigmentación, separa las pestañas y da un look más natural. Se pueden aplicar varias capas sin que forme grumos y no tiende a transferirse ni manchar. Es un buen rímel para uso diario o en looks de poco maquillaje. No lo he comprado y no estoy segura si lo haré.

He probado 2 de Rimmel: Scandaleyes Retro Glam y Scandaleyes Wow Wings. Ambos son extremadamente negeos y dan mucho volumen a las pestañas. La fórmula es súper húmeda, lo que implica mayor tiempo de secado. No he vuelto ha comprar porque no soy amante de las fórmulas húmedas.

Por último, Maybelline Snapscara es un rímel con buena pigmentación, libre de grumos que da buen volumen. Tiene una fórmula no muy húmeda, no muy seca. No he vuelto a comprar pero lo haré cuando termine algunos de los que tengo en rotación.

En resumen, mis rímeles favoritos son:

  • L’oreal Lash Paradise
  • Maybelline Snapscara
  • Colourpop BFF Mascara

Mascara Recap-Will I Repurchase?

The topic for today: mascara. I’ve tried them, they’re gone, now we need to talk about them. Were they good? Will I repurchase? Which one did I like more? If you want to Know the answers to these questions, just keep reading.

The first is the Colourpop BFF Mascara. I got it when it first came out and got 3 colors (black, blue and purple). They were my go-to mascaras because the pigmentation was amazing. It didn’t smudge or transfer. But when the formula became dryer, it started to flake and smudge during the day. Haven’t repurchase because I always have many mascaras on rotation and many more waiting to try.

Next, L’oreal Lash Paradise. It’s pigmented, gives good length & volume, and doesn’t smudge or transfer. But gets clumpy with too many coats. Both formulas, waterproof and non-waterproof, perform the same. The only difference is the taking process. The waterproof formula is harder to take off, which is why I prefer the non-waterproof one. Have repurchased many times (have like 2 backups).

Covergirl Lash Blast Active is pigmented and gives lashes a more natural and separated look. Can be built-up without getting clumpy and it doesn’t tend to smudge or transfer. Good for everyday, minimal makeup look. Haven’t repurchased it and I’m not sure if I will.

I have tried 2 Rimmel mascaras: Scandaleyes Retro Glam and Scandaleyes Wow Wings. Both are extremely black and give lot of volume. The formula is super wet, which means it takes quite some time to dry. Haven’t repurchase because I’m not fan of wet formulas.

Lastly, Maybelline Snapscara (non-waterproof) is a pigmented, clump-free, volume giver mascara. It has a not-to-dry, not-to-wet formula. Haven’t repurchase yet but will when I finish a few mascaras.

Overall, my favorite mascaras are:

  • L’oreal Lash Paradise (non-waterproof)
  • Maybelline Snapscara (non-waterproof)
  • Colourpop BFF Mascara
